Just the other day, OnePlus posted an interesting photo on their Twitter that stated “Time to change.” What could you expect, aside from OnePlus announcing the OnePlus Two? Well, a new rumor now has the original OnePlus One receiving a price cut, not debuting a new phone.
According to the exclusive information coming from fonearena, the OnePlus “Time for change” ad wasn’t suggesting a new phone. It is tailored towards the One’s price getting slashed worldwide by $50, sans India. This is a considerable amount, as it would make the 64 GB Sandstone Black variant $299 and the 16 GB Silk White variant $199.
This puts the OnePlus One in better position to still be competitive in the budget phone market. Phones continue to sell with high specs at a low cost. This levels the field with its direct competitor, the Asus ZenFone 2, which also costs $299 unlocked.
Now, at the end of the day this is still just a rumor. We won’t know what OnePlus has in store for the world until June 1st rolls around. I wouldn’t entirely dismiss the idea of the OnePlus Two being debuted, but then again it is expected to be released in Q3 of 2015.
