Just a few days ago, Google released the an update for the Nexus 9, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the long awaited update many were hoping for. Instead, Google sent out the Android 5.0.2 OTA for the Nexus 9, who was quite behind the curve as far as updates go. The official Google Nexus Twitter account has a sweet little surprise for us though.
The good news is that starting today, Android 5.1 will be hitting the Nexus 9. While many complained of Google ‘trolling’ Nexus 9 users, they released Android 5.0.2 for a reason. The Android 5.1 build for the Nexus 9 most likely had to be updated from 5.0.2, not 5.0.1. Why stall the update even more if you just release an incremental update?
Anyway, Android 5.1 brings many performance and enhancements to the already feature-rich Android Lollipop. Most notably, it brings along animated quick setting toggles, expanded Bluetooth, and WiFi toggles. On top of it all, it sets the Nexus 9 up for the Android 5.1.1 update which is rumored to have cured the memory leak issue plaguing Lollipop since the beginning.
Once the factory images for Android 5.1 become available, we’ll be sure to let you know and update this article. If you still haven’t received the 5.0.2 update, you can find the factory images here.
Have you received the 5.1 or even the 5.0.2 update on your Nexus 9 yet? Be sure to let us know! I sure haven’t…
