Qi Certification Reveals Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra, and Flip8 Magnetic Cases

Samsung’s next generation of foldables continues to surface ahead of launch, and this time the evidence comes directly from the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi certification database. While digging through newly published Qi certifications, we discovered listings for magnetic cases referencing the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. While the accessories themselves aren’t particularly surprising, the naming is. Rather than referring to the wider model as the “Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide” like previous leaks, the certification simply calls it the “Galaxy Z Fold8,” adding another hint that Samsung may have dropped the “Wide” branding ahead of launch.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Case

The first listing is for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Hinge Protection Magnet Case (Qi ID: 27315), manufactured by accessory maker YUCHUAN. While the case itself isn’t particularly surprising, the naming is.

For months, leaks have referred to Samsung’s redesigned wider foldable as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide. However, this certification simply calls the device the Galaxy Z Fold8, suggesting Samsung may have dropped the “Wide” branding entirely before launch.

The render also shows a hinge protection design with an integrated magnetic ring for Qi-compatible wireless charging accessories.

The second listing references the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Hinge Protection Magnet Case (Qi ID: 27311 and Qi ID: 27312), confirming that Samsung’s rumored Ultra model continues to appear in certification databases.

Interestingly, the Fold8 Ultra case isn’t identical to the standard Fold8 version. The camera cutouts and overall mold differ, indicating these are designed for two physically different devices rather than simply different names for the same phone.

That lines up with previous reports suggesting Samsung could launch two distinct book-style foldables this year: a wider standard Fold8 alongside a more premium Fold8 Ultra.

The database also includes a third certification for the Galaxy Z Flip8 Hybrid Shield Magnet Case (Qi ID: 27316).

Galaxy Z Flip8 Case

While the Flip8 listing doesn’t reveal much beyond confirming the device’s branding, all three accessories carry Qi 2.2.1 certification and were certified on June 25, suggesting accessory manufacturers are already preparing for Samsung’s next generation of foldables.

Like many recent Samsung accessories, these appear to be magnetic cases designed to improve wireless charging compatibility rather than confirming magnets built directly into the phones themselves.

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8 during its next Galaxy Unpacked event, likely taking place next month.
