The OnePlus 2 has seemingly been forgotten by OnePlus. The device does not receive regular updates and won’t be updated to Nougat – through OnePlus that is. That’s pretty sad for a device that just turned two and is so close to stock Android. Fear not though, just like how Nougat came to the OP2, an unofficial build of LineageOS 15 Android 8.0 Oreo has arrived.
The OnePlus 2 is one of the more popular devices on XDA, receiving a good amount of development ever since it was released. Now, only a few weeks removed from the official release of Oreo, XDA user Shreesha.Murthy has brought the OnePlus 2 Android 8.0 Oreo.The unofficial build, which can be found here, is still in an alpha stage, but it is bootable and at least usable.
It definitely isn’t a daily driver build, but it is welcoming that the first build is this complete. There is no update schedule (weekly or nightly), so we’ll have to keep an eye on the progress of the build. Are you going to try Android 8.0 Oreo on your OnePlus 2? Let us know!
