The LG G Flex 2 was just announced at CES 2015 in Las Vegas this Monday and it created quite the stir. Not only is the device very sleek and has a curved 1080p display, but it is the first device to sport the Snapdragon 810 processor. What makes the Snapdragon 810 so good you ask? Well it is one of the most powerful processors on the market coming in with 64-bit architecture and has eight cores which are clocked at 2.0 GHz.
Now if that doesn’t get your attention, comparing the LG G Flex 2 to its predecessor, the original G Flex definitely will. The original G Flex was sort of a gimmick attempt for LG to see how far they could take far out ideas. Fortunately for them, it was mildly successful. The device was not up to flagship quality, so it didn’t create much attention, aside from its 6 inch curved display of course. It had an underwhelming 720p display with a pixel density of 245 and it was indirectly competing with its flat brethren, the LG G2.
For all that the original G Flex was criticized for, low quality display, high price, and competition with the G2, the G Flex 2 has made up for all of that. Currently there are no major smartphones on the market to compete with the LG G Flex 2. Not only that, but it comes with high-end specs to justify the “gimmick” which is the curved screen. The G Flex 2 comes with a smaller 1080p display, nearly twice as many pixels per inch as its predecessor (403 compared to 245), and sports the best processor on the market.
Not only are the specs on the G Flex 2 flagship caliber, it gives us a glimpse as to what LG might be thinking on their development of the G4. If the G Flex 2 took that big of a jump in the specs and build quality categories, it really makes you wonder what could be had for the G4.
Below you can see the comparison between the original G Flex and the new G Flex 2. The only category that the original device will beat out the new one is the battery. A 3,500 mAh battery pushing only 245 pixels per inch gets amazing battery life. Otherwise, the G Flex 2 walks all over its predecessor.
