One M9 Mini is not in the cards for HTC

HTC has recently released their flagship of 2015, called the One M9. It features great specs, but in a slightly larger package. HTC has usually followed up their One M device with a ‘Mini’ variant, for users that prefer smaller devices. Unfortunately, news surfaced that HTC will not be manufacturing a One M9 Mini.

According to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, he stated that the company would end its ‘Mini’ lineup they started up two years ago. Previous devices were the 4.3 inch One Mini launched in 2013 and a 4.5 inch One Mini 2 launched in 2014. Jack Tong cites that “overall, the industry is moving towards new phones over 5 inches in size.”

It is probably a good move from HTC as their One M9 flagship didn’t produce very well, which led to HTC posting one of their worst quarters in years. Not only that, One Mini devices weren’t very widely available through carriers and they often received updates much later than the full-size One devices.

Does this move disappoint you? It seems like every manufacture is going to 5-6 inch displays, whereas 4 inch ones seem to be a thing of the past. Let us know!
