We are now just a stones throw from the debut of not one, but two Nexus devices. The one that has personally spiked my interest the most, has been the Nexus that will come from Chinese manufacture Huawei. The Huawei Nexus 6P has had quite a few amount of leaks, but the most recent is by far the most in-depth and detailed.
The new leaks come in the form of a slideshow which most likely is for retail employees. The slideshow shows off the Nexus 6P at nearly all angles, lists its specifications, and some details about the device. The slideshow, which was anonymously posted on imgur, confirms nearly all of the rumored specs. An interesting thing to note about the design is that the camera hump seen on previously leaks seems a little more tame. It doesn’t protrude as much as we’ve seen so far.
These slides have confirmed the that Huawei Nexus 6P will be the first all metal Nexus. Huawei is known for making phones with a premium feel, so it isn’t surprising that they carried this over to the Nexus line. The glass on the front of the device is also mentioned to be Gorilla Glass 4, Corning’s strongest glass to date.
One of the best news coming from the slideshow is that the Nexus 6P will also sport the largest battery in a Nexus device to date. The 6P will ship with a massive 3,450 mAh battery which will assuredly last all day and more. The previous Nexus 6 included a 3,200 mAh battery and the Nexus 5 contained a 2,300 mAh battery. Android Marshmallow with Doze coupled with the huge battery on the 6P will definitely give top of the line battery life. Add Qualcomm’s Quick-Charge 2.0 on top of that, and you won’t run into any issues.
The slides also confirm the colors that will come on the Nexus 6P along with their actual names. The 6P will come in three colors in the United States, which are Aluminum, Frost, and Graphite. The Gold model according to the slideshow will be exclusive to Japan at first. It also does acknowledge the the 6P will be the first Nexus to have 128GB as a storage option.
All in all, the Nexus 6P will come with the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a USB Type-C connector. A 5.7 inch QHD display will be displaying all of the content, but it is currently unknown if it will have an AMOLED or IPS LCD display (LCD is rumored heavily). The camera, which was unmentioned in the slide is expected to be around 13 megapixels in the rear flanked by an 8 megapixel camera in the front. Powering the sound experience will be dual front-facing ported speakers.
The Nexus announcement in San Francisco is only two days away now. Tuesday September 29th will be a huge day for Google, as it’s their first time ever launching two Nexus devices. The Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X are expected to be available on all major carriers starting in October.
