Nexus 7 (2016) to be made by Huawei, rumored to already be underway

Huawei has been hitting it big lately. Their most popular device to be released to-date was made in a partnership with none other than Google. That device, was the Nexus 6P which has received very high marks, as you can see in our review. Huawei needed a device to crack into North America, and the Nexus 6P did it with ease; is it time for another device? The latest rumor suggests Huawei wants to produce the next Nexus tablet.

According to a Weibo post, Google plans on re-entering the tablet market after taking a year off. The Nexus 9, which was made by HTC was decent at-best and was quite expensive. It seems that Google has been very pleased with the overall reception of the 6P, so they have reportedly started work on the Nexus 7 (2016). The Huawei Nexus 7 (2016) is expected to see a 4th quarter of 2016.

Specs and overall design are a crap-shoot at this point, so there is no sense in speculating. What we do know is that the device will most likely come with a screen in the 7 inch range. Another interesting aspect to the Huawei and Google tablet is what it will be called. We already know Google doesn’t like to add a year to the end of a device’s name, so will it be the Nexus 7P?

We can expect to see the device more affordable than the HTC Nexus 9 as that was the device’s downfall. Huawei was able to make the Nexus 6P more affordable than the Nexus 6 with an arguably better build, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for the Nexus 7 (2016). Some other features that will be a given will be dual front-facing speakers, a USB Type-C port, and obviously Android N.
