The Google Play apps icons are in for a new look

The Google Play Store has seen its changes. From four years ago where it made its debut, the Google Play family has seen changes in both the applications and icons, but they have always been their own entity. Today with a new update, that is expected to change.

Google will begin rolling out a new update to its apps family to give them a more consistent look. That means that the Play logo will be prevalent throughout the whole family of Play apps. The apps that will be changed include the Play Store, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Play Games, Play Books, Play Newstand.

If you noticed along with the icon change, they have dropped the “Google” from the beginning of their names. So what are your thoughts on the more uniform and consistent app icons? I’m a fan of the name change, nothing more annoying than a long app name.
