Samsung’s Galaxy A series has been a decent alternative for consumers who don’t want to spend the extra money to jump into the Galaxy S series. Although they don’t feature the same specs, their design is heavily influenced by the S series. It seems that the 2018 Galaxy A8 will be redesigned to better fit in with what the Galaxy S8 brought to the table.
Courtesy of a Weibo account, live images of the upcoming Galaxy A8+ have leaked out. The A8+ looks very much like its more expensive older brother, but has its differences. While the Galaxy A8+ does feature Samsung’s trademarked Infinity Display, it is flat and doesn’t include the curved edges. Since the edges don’t curve into the frame, the side bezels are noticeably larger.
Another interesting take on the A8+ is that is does not feature a dedicated Bixby button. Samsung could be leaving this feature with their more premium models. It is assumed that the device will still come with Samsung’s in-house AI assistant.
The Galaxy A8+ is expected to ship with the Exynos 7885 processor and could feature up to 6GB of RAM. Even though Android Oreo has been out since August, the A8+ will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It will also feature the fingerprint sensor in a new location below the camera sensor.
