Leaked Galaxy S7 variant shows off 5.7 inch display, 12.2 megapixel camera

We have already seen a good amount of Galaxy S7 leaks in 2015, but 2016 is about to heat up. Some things that are heavily reported are that the S7 will come in multiple sizes, including a 5.2 inch, a 5.5 inch edge, and a large 5.7 inch variant. Today the first real-life image of a Galaxy S7 model has leaked and it is the larger 5.7 inch version.

The image above definitely shows off a Samsung device, as you can see by the home button that is circled above. That adds some credibility to the leak. It is somewhat surprising that a Galaxy S7 variant will come in at 5.7 inches, because that is the same size of the Note lineup. Although the 5.7 inch won’t come with the S-Pen, it is still interesting.

Like many of the reports before, the Galaxy S7, at least in the North American market, will come with the Snapdragon 820 processor. This comes as no surprise as Qualcomm is looking to make a strong comeback with their new SoC, highlighted by it’s custom Kryo cores. On top of that, it is running a very powerful Adreno 530 GPU. Backing up the CPU is 4 GB of RAM, which was expected.

One of the most interesting features on this leak is that the Galaxy S7 will come with a 12.2 megapixel processor. This is something we’ve seen with the Nexus 6P: more megapixels don’t always make better pictures. This means that Samsung is likely to include a much larger pixel size to keep up the quality of the images, both in and out of light.

More leaks are assured to come as we get closer to Samsung’s Unpacked event in February. The few things that we know that will be 100% are a QHD AMOLED display and the Snapdragon 820 processor. A lot of things about the device could change between now and Unpacked, so stay tuned.
