Android 5.1 update is incoming

Android 5.1

Awhile back, if you remember, it was rumored that Google would release Android 5.1 in February. Well, if you haven’t checked a calendar anytime soon it is Febrary it seems that Android 5.1 has already surfaced. With no formal announcement as of yet, we could be leap-frogging Android 5.0.3 straight to Android 5.1.

Thanks to the guys over at Android Police, they have found out that the first iteration of Android 5.1 have already begun shipping on Android One devices in Indonesia. While the Android One official website mentions Android 5.1 multiple times, no other site does. This would be extremely hard to fake and or be a typo, so in the meantime, read the expected changes posted by Android Pit below.

To go along with the imminent release of Android 5.1, some Nexus device build numbers for the update have surfaced as well. These are not for sure either, but the information backing it is plentiful.

Yes the name Lollipop will stick, even though this is a significant update. A name change to ‘M’ will not happen until later this year. If any more information surfaces, like an official announcement from Google, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
