Surprisingly, noticeably absent were the most recent Nexus devices. The CyanogenMod team did say more devices would be supported within the next couple of weeks, but it has only been a few days. Joining the Nexus 7 (deb and flo) are now the Nexus 6P (angler) and Nexus 5X (bullhead).

The Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are already on the most recent build of Android, which happens to be Android Marshmallow, but it lacks customization. CyanogenMod, one of the most popular custom ROMs on the internet brings many customizations like themes, different performance profiles, and my personal favorite, the circular battery icon.

Just to forewarn, these builds are not very stable, but will continue to be worked on daily. If you are itching to get your phone running CM 13, it’ll work, but there may be some unknown bugs or issues. If you are more patient like myself, I’d wait a week or two and revisit.

One of the most well-respected and most-used custom ROMs for Android, CyanogenMod, has been stuck on CM 12.1, but CM 13 has been under development for some time now. Android Marshmallow was officially released nearly two months ago, but the CyanogenMod team kept quiet about when it would be available for flashing. Now, as of yesterday CyanogenMod 13 is available for select devices:

OnePlus One (bacon)

Nexus 7 (deb & flo)

LG G4 (h815)

Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (mondrianwifi)

LG GPad 7.0 (v400 & v410)

LG G3 Verizon (vs985)

Moto X 2014 (victara)

There are some warnings with flashing CM 13, as usual. You are able to “dirty flash” from a CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly directly to the 13 nightly, but you will also need to update your Gapps packages, Xposed, etc. The list definitely started out small, but the CyanogenMod team is always hard at work and more devices are assured to pop up shortly.

If you are a user that likes very stable, reliable ROMs you might want to hold off for a few nightly builds. If you are impatient, like me, you’ll probably want to update as soon as possible. Android Marshmallow brings a lot of great features, most notably the Doze feature and App Permissions, even though CyanogenMod employed such a feature in previous builds.
