With the New Year’s rolling around in a few days, many people will be hitting the gym to lose that holiday weight. What good is working out if you don’t have decent headphones to accompany your weight loss goals? Well, we were fortunate enough to receive some iClever Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones just in time for your New Year’s resolution. These Bluetooth headphones normally go for $29.99 on Amazon, but the question is, are they worth your holiday gift cards? Let’s take a look.

Design

I have already reviewed one set of iClever Bluetooth Headphones, so this time around I knew what to expect when opening the shipping box. A plain cardboard box. I am a big fan of this because I am tired of packaging being covered in specs, marketing slogans, etc. Sure enough, the Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones came in the same style of packaging.

Opening up the box, these headphones definitely have a futuristic look to them. Something that suggests to me that they really belong in a gym or on someone who is active. The design is very sleek and has no sharp edges, except on the top. It has a different look that will differentiate you from the crowd.

When putting the headphones in my ear, they seemed to fit decently, but not as well as I hoped. When I am active, the last thing I want to worry about is my headphones falling out. They can handle a decent amount of movement, but any real hard motions and they begin to come out. I wish they would have went with the same design on the other iClever headphones we reviewed.

Since these are Bluetooth headphones, that means they need to be charged and there is one single wire, not a split one. On the right headphone you’ll find the charging port. It is sealed off to protect the port, as the headphones are IPX4 certified. You will also find the buttons to control your music down on the cord, which is typical of headphones. On one side you have an LED light to indicate whether it is being charged, fully charged, or synced up. On the back side there are two buttons to control the volume.

An interesting feature on these iClever headphones is their magnetic top. The two headphones will stick together, which can either end your current call or pause your music. It is pretty useful if you assume you will take your headphones off after a call or listening to music. You can also answer a call when taking the headphones apart, if they are stuck together.

Performance/Ease of use

One issue I have always had with Bluetooth devices are pairing. Sometimes it goes very smoothly and other times it is quite the opposite. With the iClever Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones, it was actually quite simple. It took seconds for me to get it paired up to my Nexus 6P. Since the headphones are compatible with being linked up to two devices at once, it was just as easy to hook it up to my computer.

As far as performance goes, the headphones still haven’t disconnected on me. Now, I haven’t walked the full 32.8 feet away from my phone which is the operating distance, but I still have walked a decent distance. I was more impressed with the fact that the headphones never got choppy are disconnected while the device was well within range.

Since these headphones are wireless, they obviously require some charging. I always have either a power source near me, whether it is an outlet, computer, or even my Nexus 6P, but I never needed them. iClever states that you can get up to seven hours of music playback and 200 hours of standby time, so they definitely can last a decent time. I never had to charge them midday, but for some they might have to. These headphones would last me two to three days easily, with 1-2 hours of listening time per day with a few calls mixed in.

When you go wireless you have to make sacrifices, but the battery life on the iClever Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones don’t make it too much of a sacrifice, so if that is putting you off about going wireless, don’t worry about it.

Sound

Like I stated earlier with everything getting more portable and smaller every year, quality also goes up every year. That just isn’t for the high-priced items, it goes for the lower priced items as well. I have used $100+ headphones and $5 headphones, but I was honestly wasn’t too impressed at what the iClever Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones brought to the table.

The first thing you notice when trying any headphones is how well they cancel out noise. With these Bluetooth headphones, I would say they are middle of the road: not the best, but not the worst. The nice thing is that the way they are shaped though, they don’t let too much music escape the earbuds. It always annoys me when I can hear others music and I don’t want to be that guy.

iClever did a decent job making sure that these headphones can pick up all ranges of sounds, as nothing sounds too mushy or runs together. I listen to mostly metal music, so it is really easy to tell if the quality isn’t there. There are a lot of aspects to the music, so it is easy for headphones to drown out the sound and lose crispness. So many times with lower-tier headphones, the audio is mucked up and there isn’t a clear distinction between the lows, mids, and highs. I didn’t mess with any

Conclusion

Overall, if you are looking to get yourself un-wired just in time for that New Year’s resolution, be sure to take a look at the iClever Sweatproof Bluetooth Sport Headphones. Not only do they come in at a very reasonable price tag of $29.99 and are IPX4 water resistant, but they perform well outside the price range. I have been using them quite frequently and have not run into any issues with them whatsoever.

Every year that goes by, electronics get more and more portable. That isn’t limited to just smartphones, tablets, headphones have followed the same path. Bluetooth headphones have been on the market for quite some time, but they haven’t necessarily been affordable for the every day user. We were lucky enough to get sent some iClever Bluetooth Headphones to review to see how they stack up against their wired siblings. These Bluetooth headphones normally go for $19.99 on Amazon, so they are definitely affordable. Do you lose quality at such a low price or has iClever found a way to pack the power of higher-end audio into a $20 package? Let’s take a look.

Design

I have never owned a set of Bluetooth headphones before, so I didn’t necessarily know what to expect as far as performance or design. When I took the headphones out of the shipping box, I was greeted with a very minimal product box. Usually companies go out of their way to pack the box with specifications and other jargon, but for the iClever Bluetooth Headphones, that wasn’t the case. That is always welcomed.

Opening up the box of the iClever Bluetooth Headphones, I was honestly quite pleased. First of all, they don’t look as big as they do in the product images. I was a little worried they would stand out quite a bit when they were in my ears, but they are hardly more noticeable than standard wired headphones.

The headphones themselves fit very well and having the extra ergonomic rubber hook really makes them comfortable. Not only that, but they do not come out very easy. Using these headphones with activity, they fit well enough that they do not fall out. They actually fit better than my standard wired headphones which is welcoming to see.

Since the headphones don’t have a standard cord, I didn’t know where they would fit the mic, charging port, and audio controls. Don’t worry though, all are included, iClever just had to get a little creative. On the left-side headphone, all it houses is the microUSB charging port. It is sealed by a rubber flap, which is firmly in place. It took me a few tries to pull it up to charge them up, but I can’t complain.

The right-side of the headphones house the rest of the buttons and such. The entire side of the right headphone is a clickable button which is used for powering the device on and off, along with pausing and playing music. The iClever logo is also an LED light which changes colors to indicate whether it is charging, fully charged, or powered on. The volume buttons are found on the front of the right headphone. Long pressing the volume-up button will go forward one song whereas the volume-down will do the opposite. It was a little uncomfortable to press the buttons at first, but you get used to it. The right headphone also houses the in-call microphone right below the volume controls.

Performance/Ease of use

One issue I have always had with Bluetooth devices are pairing. Sometimes it goes very smoothly and other times it is quite the opposite. With the iClever Bluetooth Headphones, it was actually quite simple. It took under a minute for me to get it paired up to my Nexus 6P.

I always have either a power source near me, whether it is an outlet, computer, or even my Nexus 6P, but I never needed them. iClever states that you can get up to seven hours of music playback and five hours of talk time, so they definitely can last a decent time. I never had to charge them midday, but for some they might have to. These headphones would last me two to three days easily, with 1-2 hours of listening time per day with a few calls mixed in.

When you go wireless you have to make sacrifices, but the battery life on the iClever Bluetooth Headphones don’t make it too much of a sacrifice, so if that is putting you off about going wireless, don’t worry about it.

Sound

Like I stated earlier with everything getting more portable and smaller every year, quality also goes up every year. That just isn’t for the high-priced items, it goes for the lower priced items as well. I have used $100+ headphones and $5 headphones, but I was honestly pretty impressed at what the iClever Bluetooth Headphones brought to the table.

One of the first things that you notice when you put headphones in is how well they cancel out noise. That is not an issue on these headphones at all, as it actually might have the best noise cancelling out of all my previous used headphones. That goes a long way in helping the overall quality of the listening experience. I personally want only me to hear my music and don’t what to hear anything on the outside, The iClever Bluetooth Headphones do that perfectly.

iClever did a wonderful job making sure that these headphones can pick up all ranges of sounds, as nothing sounds mushy or run together.

Conclusion

Overall, if you are looking to get yourself un-wired from your smartphone and are in the market fro some wireless headphones, be sure to take a look at the iClever Bluetooth Headphones. Not only do they come in at a very reasonable price tag of $19.99, but they perform well outside the price range. I have been using them quite frequently and have not run into any issues with them whatsoever.

There are two things that seems to be the M.O. of smartphones in 2015: let’s make the device as thin as possible and as slick as possible. Manufacturers are constantly trying to make phones thinner and sleeker to appeal to consumers, but they forget the one thing that matters most: grip. We have seen it on many devices this year, such as the Galaxy S6/S6 edge, Note 5, and even more recent, the Nexus 6P.

While some companies such as dBrand or Slickwraps make vinyl wraps that add looks, they don’t seem to add much grip. That is where Toast comes in. Toast makes skins for devices that are a little more… intuitive. They go a step beyond the skin by using natural wood to not only add much needed grip, but add a unique, and appealing look.

As you can see in my Nexus 6P review, I am a huge fan of the device, both the overall design and feel. Even though the device is a tad slick, I am not a case fan at all. Not only do they hide the design of the phone, they aren’t the most visually appealing things. That’s where the Nexus 6P Toast wooden cover comes in. Not only does it add some protection, it doesn’t detract from the design of the Nexus 6P.

I reviewed the Nexus 6 Toast wooden cover a while back, and my experience was more than fantastic. My order was shipped out the same day as my order and I received it within three days. This time around, Toast sent me the Nexus 6P wooden cover to review, so let’s get at it.

The last Toast cover I applied on my original Nexus had a lot less angles and curves to deal with, so installing the wooden cover on my Nexus 6P was a learning experience. It wasn’t too hard to lineup, as the 6P has a good amount of points to refer off, such as the mic, camera visor, and fingerprint sensor. I had to take it off and give it another go because the power button, volume rocker, and SIM card slot were just slightly off, but no big deal.

The laser cut wood is made perfectly for the Nexus 6P, so there is no need to worry that it won’t fit correctly when you put it on, you just have to be patient. Once I got it on, I just sat there and looked at it for a bit. Toast really outdid themselves on this wooden cover, because when the device is face down, it’s like the 6P came out of the factory this way. Toast also did a good job about leaving open space by both the headphone jack and USB Type-C port. You can easily plug in headphones all the way without being stopped by the wooden cover.

The Nexus 6P Toast cover handles every curve on perfectly and leaves no gaps or openings. It also comes with wooden inserts for the power button, volume rocker, and SIM card slot, because without them, they’d be too recessed to press. The buttons still maintain their tactile-ness and clicky-ness, I found it is just a good idea to rub off some of the adhesive off the sides of the inserts to make the fit more smooth.

After I applied the back, which is definitely the hardest part of the process, it was time to apply the front skin. This one was much easier to apply due to the fact that there are no curves and it is flat. Using the front-facing speakers as a reference, it went on like a breeze. It really rounds out the whole device and adds a bit of an lip to the front of the device. It makes it a little safer to set your device face down with the wood, not the glass being the resting point.

Even though the wooden skin wraps around the entire device on to the sides, you don’t have to worry about it peeling up. Toast uses very high quality adhesive that won’t damage the device, but keeps the cover on for the long haul. I have used a Toast cover before, and I had no signs of peeling, even after months of use.

If you find yourself looking for a way to add grip and protection to your Nexus 6P, be sure to go check out Toast. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. Not only do they offer up a few different options for wood type (Walnut, Ash, Bamboo, and Ebony), but you can customize it even more by adding custom etchings. Think of it as a Moto Maker for after you already purchased your device. The possibilities are endless.

There are hundreds if not thousands of phone case manufacturers out there nowadays, so it is hard to determine a difference. Many case manufacturers tend to skip function for form, but some have pulled off both. One of those companies is Carved.

There are many skin makers out there, both textured decals and skins made out of natural wood. The problem is none of them offer the protection of the standard polycarbonate or rubberized case. That is where Carved comes in. Carved originally started with making wooden skins for iPhones, but has since expanded their offerings to Slim Wood Cases, Traveler Wood Cases, and even Solid Wood Cases. They currently offer cases for all iPhone models 4 and up, along with the Google Nexus 5/6, and Samsung Galaxy S4/S5/S6.

For this review, Carved was kind enough to send us a Traveler Wood Case for a Galaxy S5 I had laying around. So, I set down the Galaxy Note 5 for awhile and employed my encased Galaxy S5 as my daily driver. The Traveler Wood Case has a rubber bumper surrounding the entire device to provide maximum protection and a wooden back for added style.

One of the first things I noticed, is how genuine Carved is. You can tell they take pride in what they produce, as they are all hand-made in Indiana. From opening the box that it was shipped in, you are greeted with sleeve that holds the case that has hand-drawn artwork on it. It is a very nice change to the regular box that just lists off the company’s name with other specifications.

You can opt for either pre-made designs on their website or opt for your own artwork on their awesome Case Designer. If you want something one of a kind, be sure to check it out, it’s pretty intuitive. We didn’t get our hands on custom-made design, so we have the Corporal Inlay case. At first glance it looks very clean and minimal. The wood grain really stands out and feels very natural. Don’t worry, you won’t get any slivers.

One thing I thought was really cool is what’s on the inside of the case. It has the entire team’s signatures around the Carved logo. It just goes to show you that how much this small team appreciates your business.

When putting the Carved case over my Galaxy S5, it went on with ease. So many other cases I’ve tried try to get it to be such a tight fit, that it is somewhat of a struggle to get the device in and out of it. That is not the case with the Carved case. They struck the perfect balance between fitment and the easiness to put it on.

All of the ports are in the right spot and there is no room to spare. Carved definitely measured twice and cut once, because everything lines up perfectly. One little detail I appreciate is that the headphone and microUSB cut outs are slightly larger, so you can fit bulkier cables in there. I am always disappointed when I need to remove my case to charge my device or listen to music.

Holding the Carved Traveler Case in the hand is very comfortable. The edges are very wide and have slight dimples in them to give maximum grip. Some case manufacturers forget about the whole “grip-ability” of a case, but not Carved. The edges are also slightly rounded to make it very ergonomic. The wooden inlay is completely flush to the outer rubber edge, so there is no unwanted lip.

While the design and practicality of the case is 100% point, one issue I have with the case is the buttons. They function as they should, but they just aren’t very tactile or clicky. I almost second guess myself sometimes when I press them because they are slightly mushy. That is honestly my only real issue with the Carved case, other than that it is great.

Another thing I appreciate about the case is that it has a very nice lip around the front of the case. I find myself setting my phone face-down on most occasions, so it’s really reassuring that Carved included a nice sized lip to protect your phones screen.

Overall, I am very pleased with Carved and their phone cases. Not only do they add the protection that many of us need, they add the style that we want. They also have a massive selection so you’re bound to find a design that you like, and if you can’t find one, you can make you’re own. Their cases range in price, but this case was $29, which isn’t bad at all, especially when you think that it’s protecting your $500+ investment.

Be sure to head over to Carved’s website to find your next case. You can also find them on Twitter.

With the school year being in full swing for more than a month, we take for granted what we use to carry around all of our supplies. The backpack is probably the most needed and essential tool for students throughout their education, whether it is high school and younger or college. What a perfect time to review a backpack, right? Well you’re in luck because Moshi was kind enough to send over their Venturo backpack for review.

I currently am in college for Web Programming, so I need to bring my laptop everywhere I go, from class to class and even to work on occasion. One thing that annoys me a bit about my current backpack is that it doesn’t have a dedicated laptop sleeve (it’s a Dakine skateboarding backpack). If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it as they always say. Well, thankfully Moshi wanted me to test out their Venturo backpack, so I got my wish.

The Moshi Venturo is a sleek and slim laptop backpack that looks a little more professionally and presentable than my current backpack. For this review, I was sent the Charcoal Black version with orange accents. If that’s not your thing, Blue Steel, Titanium Gray, and Navy Blue options are also available. The backpack comes in at only 28.74 ounces and has dimensions of 20.08″ x 4.13″ x 14.57″. It is very light and slim, but is still able to hold up to a 15″ laptop.

On the outside of the Moshi Venturo is “lightweight and durable fabric with weather-resistant surface treatment”. That seems pretty technical, but I can’t disagree. Using the Venturo for the better part of September into October, I have seen no signs of wear whatsoever. During my daily usage, it is opened and closed around ten times a day at the minimum and that is with taking a computer and textbooks out multiple times in between.

Up in Minnesota during the fall it doesn’t rain too much, but when it did I wasn’t worried. I fully trusted having my school computer in my backpack without the fear of it being damaged. I still wouldn’t want to let it sit outside for extended periods, but with 5-10 minutes of rainfall, everything remained dry as could be.

One thing I’ve learned from reviewing Moshi products is that they are nothing but quality. When I opened up the Venturo I was impressed with the high-quality zipper handles Moshi employed. They are very heavy-duty and don’t seem like they will bend or break. I’ve had that issue in the past where my zipper handle will bend or even break, but that looks nearly impossible on the Venturo. I couldn’t even bend them if I tried.

One thing necessary on backpacks is a lot of padding to keep things comfortable, especially when hauling around multiple textbooks. The back of the Moshi Venturo has a very thick padded air-mesh back support along with some on the actual strap. When using the Venturo, I have found out that it is comfortable with very small amounts of weight. Although it has a good amount of padding, once I added a few textbooks alongside my 15″ laptop, the strap stressed my shoulder.

The backpack does fit very nicely and is definitely comfortable to wear, just with an adequate amount of weight. Once it gets a little too heavy, it is uncomfortable after extended periods of time. To be honest, no padding could help this, that’s just the sacrifice you make when you purchase a one strapped backpack. On the other side of things, I do like how Moshi included a second handle on the side of the Venturo which then can be carried like a briefcase. I found myself using this option a lot more when I had to carry more than two textbooks.

That’s the thing though, it is very easy to over-pack. Moshi and their design team somehow managed to fit a ton of compartments and sleeves for just about everything: tablets, writing utensils, books, electronics, passports, and the list could go on forever. It is pretty impressive how much you can fit inside the Moshi Venturo.

Overall, the Moshi Venturo is a great option if you are looking for a nice backpack to carry your laptop, schoolwork, and other electronics. The problem is, it becomes a little uncomfortable with a little extra weight. The design is spot on and is very appealing. It is very easy to tote around to an interview for example, that is what I plan on using it for. It is a lot more presentable than a regular backpack if you have to bring your laptop or papers to show examples of your work. If Moshi were to make a “regular” backpack with two straps, I would jump all over that.

If you would like to purchase the Moshi Venturo, it can be found on Moshi’s official website for $119.95 and on Amazon for $118.95.

One accessory that will forever be tied to smartphones are headphones or earbuds. It is one thing that allows us to listen to music on the go in a quality and quiet (for most) matter. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on Moshi’s entry level earbuds, the Mythros. For the most part, I have always used either the headphones or earbuds that have come with my smartphones (mostly the Galaxy series headphones) or cheap headphones that cost < $15. Headphones haven’t been a huge priority of mine until lately, where I listen to a lot of music during school. The Moshi Mythro’s are comfortably priced at $29.95, so let’s see if how they stack up.

Design

The design of the Moshi Mythro is pretty welcoming. They currently are available in six different color choices: Gunmetal Gray, Jet Silver, Satin Gold, Burgundy Red, Tyrian Purple, and Rose Pink.; the Mythros I got to review were of the Burgundy Red color.

At first glance, the first thing I notice is the aluminum casing around the headphones. This is very nice to see, especially since the majority of headphones I’ve seen or used have all had plastic casings. A lot of the time, those casings crack or break apart, so it’s good to see Moshi enforcing the Mythros with aluminum. Each wire below the casing is stamped ‘R’ or ‘L’ for right and left. What is nice on top of that is that the actual earbud is color coded as well. The right ear is red whereas the left ear is white. This really helps figuring out which side is which, especially when it is hard to see the little stamping of ‘R’ or ‘L’.

One issue I tend to have with earbuds over headphones, is that you have to find the right one because all ear canals aren’t all the same, who knew? The good news is that Moshi includes two additional sizes to the stock earbuds that come installed on the headphones. The good news is that they seal very well. I have found with cheaper earbuds, you don’t always necessarily get a tight seal.

As far as the cord on the earbuds, it isn’t as thick as I would like it to be. The headphone jack and connection to the earbuds do seem to have some extra bulk around the cord to help protect it from daily bends, which is good to see. So many times started to see wires becoming exposed at high stress spots on the wiring, so its good to see some extra enforcement.

The Mythro does also come with an included mic embedded in the cord. The button button below the microphone does add some functionality which includes pausing the song and skipping back and forth. The only downfall is that it does not have a volume control. That means you’ll have to stick with taking the device out of your pocket to change the volume.

Sound

Coming from cheap headphones and earbuds my whole life, I didn’t necessarily know what to expect. I mean my listening experience was never terrible, but I was excited to see what a little more money could come with in my sound quality. Let me tell you, I have been missing out my whole life. Listening to music on the go, even through Moshi’s entry level headphones makes a huge difference.

Most of music that I listen to is metal, so there is a lot of everything: bass, treble, mids. The thing is that the Moshi Mythro handled it all very well. The guitars would come through very crisp and well-defined and it would still allow for the kick drum to be well-pronounced. Usually with cheaper headphones, I have found that a lot of the sound runs together, but the Mythro does not have any of that.

The earbuds do have a solid bass to it, so if that’s something you’re into, these may be the perfect headphones for you. Moshi states “Moshi’s DR8 Neodymium driver that delivers a crisp sound with deep punchy bass”, and they aren’t lying. Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised with the output on these earbuds.

Conclusion

The Moshi Mythro earbuds are definitely a best in class value. They hit all the marks on design and sound quality without breaking the budget. If you are looking at updating your audio assortment, but don’t want to drop $100+, strongly consider these headphones. The are designed well with an aluminum housing and have crisp sound anyone can appreciate. You can find the Mythros on Moshi’s official website.

Whether it’s an evolution of smartphone use, the lack of battery life on the latest smartphones, or a combination of both, we need to charge our devices more than ever. The problem is we need an outlet nearby to juice up our device(s). That brings us to portable power banks, such as the one we have to review. Moshi was kind enough to send us an IonBank 5K with microUSB connector to review. So let’s take a look and see how it stacks up.

Design

Moshi always seems to have high quality products and the IonBank 5K is no different. Most power banks you see around are made entirely of plastic, which is where Moshi’s differs. The top and bottom are made of anodized aluminum, so it protects the goods very well. It has a nice texture to it and isn’t as slippery as you’d think. Honestly, it would be nice if some metal smartphones had this same texture.

One area where the design of the Moshi IonBank 5K really excels at is hiding cords. Without taking out the charging cable or microUSB cable, there are no cords to be found. The device is a perfect rectangle, that is until you slide the bottom out. It reminds me of my smartphone slider days and is actually a very intuitive way to expose the microUSB cord. Once the cord is out, the slider can close and still allow the microUSB cord to charge a device. The charging cable for the IonBank 5K is found on the opposite and conveniently slides into the plastic edge.

Another interesting design feature is that the device has a battery life indicator built into the side of the device. There are four small LED lights to represent how full the battery is. To activate the device or just check how much juice is left in the tank, press the button once.

Right next door to the battery level indicator is a USB port, just in case. That means you can charge your friend’s iPhone, provided he brought a cord. I’m sure they did, because those things need to be charged all the time, but I digress. What’s nice is you are actually able to charge two devices at the same time.

Performance

The performance of the device is actually quite impressive. It holds a large 5,000 mAh lithium polymer cell, which is good for charging most Android phones nearly two times. One thing I was surprised with was that how quick it would charge my device. Moshi doesn’t advertise this as a quick charging bank, but it sure seems like it. It can power my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 at more than 1% per minute, which is quite impressive.

One thing to note about the power bank when charging two devices at the same time, is make sure the USB port doesn’t get too warm. When I tried charging my OnePlus 2 through it (USB Type-C), the connector seemed to get very warm. To make sure it wasn’t just the OP2, I through my G4 on the charger and the same thing happened. When putting out power, the device itself gets a little warm, but nothing to worry about.

Conclusion

If you are in the market for a power bank, look no further than the Moshi IonBank 5K. Not only is it very stylish and physically appealing, it performs just as well. The power bank being flanked by anodized aluminum on either side makes it look for nice and protects the internals. The IonBank 5K can definitely back up performance with looks by charging a device with around a 1% per minute ratio, which is very nice when are outlet isn’t nearby.

The only thing about the device is that since it is a premium product, there is a premium price for it.

There’s nothing like a little throwback right? Whether you have old records or you want to listen to music in the “purest form”, turntables are hard to come by. The majority are probably in a dump somewhere, but vinyls are making a comeback. 1byone was nice enough to send us their latest 3-speed Portable Turntable to review.

Design

The 1byone Turntable comes in a very convenient package. At first glance, you might think it’s a suitcase, but with a closer look you can see the front facing speakers. The Turntable comes enclosed in a nice wood hard shell with a carrying handle, so it is easy to take on the go or to that relatives house who hasn’t listened to their records in years.

The case of the turntable is made out of wood covered in PU leather. It has a very nice feel to it and will keep the device within safe and sound. On the corners of the wooden cabinet are metal stoppers, to give it some extra durability. This device is made to be carried around, so it is built to last.

On the front of the turntable, there are two front-facing speakers, one on either side of the carrying handle. In the middle is a nice metal latch which keeps the lid securely closed and definitely handle being taken places.

The left side of the Turntable is free of an objects, which leads us to the right side. On the right side of the device are all the ports for power and audio. There are the volume knob, headphone port, power inlet, RCA output ports, and even a line-in port.

It was very smart for 1byone to include the two audio options; if you need to keep it down, you can throw on some headphones, but if you are at a party, it is easy to plug it in to some louder speakers. Not only that, but you can plug in your phone and listen to whatever music you’d like.

Opening the turntable up shows off the goods. You are greeted by a white background with a 1byone logo. Having the product branding on the inside is much more preferred than having it on the outside in my opinion. The device allows for 3-speeds: 33/45/78 RPM, so it can take multiple types of vinyls. It also comes with a 45 adapter built right in, so no need to mess around if someone wants to put their favorite 45 on.

Sound

The sound that comes from the 1byone Turntable is very crisp, even through the internal speakers. The speakers can handle any record at mid-range volume, but start to drop off if you push it too loud. That’s nothing to complain about though, due to the fact you can plug it in to external speakers.

Using the RCA to plug in to an external speaker source was the the best inclusion on this product. I can see why people say listening to vinyl is the purest form of listening to music, because the quality is outstanding. Since vinyl is making a comeback through the metal community, I may have to purchase a few to try it out in the future.

One nice feature included on the device is the auto stop switch you can enable. Enabling the auto stop on the turntable will stop the record once the side ends. Making it more convenient to switch over to the other side, not waiting for the device to stop.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, the 1byone 3-speed Portable Turntable is nice bargain looking for someone to relive their youth or the youth connecting with the past. 1byone has made the record player extremely convenient to carry around and even store in the house.

Other than that, the solid build and performance make it a good gift to family member or friend. The basic controls are easy to get under wraps, so it is perfect for an older family member. If you would like to find this product, you can see it on Amazon, and it runs $76.99.

One of the most important accessories someone can buy for their smartphone is a case to protect their investment. Smartphones cost upwards of $800+, so it only makes sense to put a case around it to protect it from every day drops and dings. Fortunately for us, the consumer, there are many case options for nearly every device. That brings us to this review. I got my hands on Moshi’s brand new iGlaze Napa LG G4 case.

I’ve been using the LG G4 as my daily driver ever since the release and luckily my phone hasn’t taken any serious drops and dings. When I received the Moshi iGlaze Napa in the mail, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the case. It adds a little bulk, but it is all in the name of protection.

The case has a hybrid construction, meaning that it has a shock-absorbing inner shell and a tougher, shatterproof outer shell. Thankfully, it’s a one-piece construction. I am not a fan of two piece cases as it adds to the chance that it might fall apart or break during a big fall. With the Moshi iGlaze Napa LG G4 case, you don’t have to worry about that.

Moshi definitely did their research beforehand, because this case fits over the LG G4 like a glove. It is slightly curved to go along with the G4’s curvature, so there aren’t any unwanted gaps in the phone case. When the device is in it, it feels very rigid, like it was meant to be there. To top it all off, all of the cutouts on the case allow for easy access to the buttons, headphone jack, and charging port. One of my biggest issues with cases sometimes is the fact that larger microUSB cables and headphone cords will not fit through the cutout; that isn’t an issue on this case.

Another thing I appreciated about Moshi’s design with the iGlaze Napa case is that it accentuates the curves of the device. When the G4 is in the case, it still feels very ergonomic, even though it adds a little height and width to the device. Picture it as a slightly larger G4. The curves of the case fit very nicely in the hands.

The LG G4 is already a beautiful device without a case, mainly due to the leather backing on the device; when making the iGlaze Napa case, they didn’t forget that. Moshi employs a vegan leather backing that would even make LG proud. It still gives the device a refined and sophisticated look, but it adds much need grip to the device. I am a huge fan of LG’s leather back on the G4, but I honestly prefer the look and feel of Moshi’s leather on the iGlaze Napa case.

Currently, the case for the G4 is only available in Red and Black. I would personally like to see them add a few extra colors to match LG’s leather backs, but you can’t win them all. If you are in the market for an LG G4 case, don’t hesitate to give the Moshi iGlaze Napa case a look. Not only does it add protection to your device, but it will also maintain the looks and sophistication of your barebacked G4. The case is available for $44.95

If you would like to check out the Moshi iGlaze Napa LG G4 case, you can do so by visiting their official site.

One of the most needed things around the office is a USB port. It is the jack of all trades: it can transfer data and charge devices. So, with the lack of USB ports around, we recently got our hands on a USB 4 port hub from the folks over at 1byone. It comes with four ports, all USB 3.0 enabled in a sleek and slim design.

There isn’t much to it in the way of size. First off, it comes in at 94 x 26.2 x 23.6 mm, so it is quite small. On top of the slimness of the hub, it only weighs 50 grams. All of that is packed with an all aluminum build. It is very refreshing to see as most USB hubs are plastic. The one I had before was plastic and it felt very cheap. The hub does include an LED light as well, to signal that it is plugged in and receiving power.

One thing that a appreciate about the design the the location of the USB power cord. It comes out of the back of the hub, so it doesn’t get in the way of the other ports. other than that, there are two ports on either side, slightly staggered. That is how 1byone fits four ports into a small hub. Not only that, but it has legs so it stands up nicely and doesn’t want to tip over, even with multiple cords plugged into it. To compensate for the slipperiness though, it does come Velcro strips to attach the hub wherever you like, but it just isn’t as appealing to the eyes.

The only thing that I would like to see added would be rubber to the aforementioned legs. While it stands up nicely, it tends to slide across the table, especially if a heavier cord stresses it. It isn’t the end of the world, but it is something to note. Since the 1byone hub is USB 3.0 enabled, it can handle data transfers of up to 5 Gbps per second, which equates to just over 600 megabytes per second. It can definitely get the job done when it comes to transferring files. I had no problem at all transferring my music to a USB stick or my phone.

All in all, for $12.99 it is a great bargain. 1byone shows off their ability to pack quality into a budget USB hub. Not only that, but it packs four USB 3.0 ports into a frame that is only 94 mm long. If you are in search of a few extra USB ports, don’t hesitate to find the 1byone USB 3.0 4-port hub on Amazon.
