Nexus smartphones have been an annual device for quite some time now, and it isn’t slowing down. Rather, it is speeding up. This year is the first year Google will release two Nexus smartphones, as it is widely expected. Like we’ve known for a few months, two different manufacturers will be taking part, One will be the Korean LG and the other will be the Chinese Huawei.
The LG Nexus will is rumored to be a reboot of the Nexus 5 from 2013, which is regarded as one of the best Nexus devices to date. It had great specs at a very low price point. Many were put off by the Nexus 6 due to the 6 inch display and $650+ price tag. Not to mention how hard it was to get at first. As expected, the LG Nexus 5 (2015) is highly-anticipated.
As for the Huawei Nexus, it is a chance for the Chinese-based company to get a foothold in the United States and for Google to get in the good graces of China. This device is expected to be more of a Nexus 6 successor and feature a larger screen at a higher price tag. It will also feature higher-end specs to go along with the higher price tag.
Both devices are expected to be debuted in October and be released shortly thereafter. It is unknown if one will see an earlier release, but they both will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Carrier availability is also unknown at the moment, but it is expected that both devices will work on all major carriers and be ready for Project Fi.
