Today, March 16th, was supposed to mark the initial release of the highly-anticipated HTC One M9 in Taiwan. Unfortunately, sales of the HTC One M9 have been delayed due to a software upgrade.
The delay has officially been confirmed from HTC and stated that they are working on providing “the latest version of software ” and ensured that the device would be released “as soon as possible.”
How soon is “as soon as possible” you may ask? Well, some customers who have pre-ordered the device have been notified that their HTC One M9 shipment will be delayed anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Others, at least for the 32 GB variant, have been notified that their device shipment has been delayed until March 20th.
It seems as if the software issue is more prevalent on the 64 GB variant as it is reported that the device may run into some booting issues.
It is unknown if this delay will hurt the release in the United States, but a release date has yet to be confirmed; a March 23rd release date has been heavily rumored. We can assume that all devices made so far were allotted for their home country (Taiwan), so all devices made from here on out should employ the software update.
