HTC listened: The HTC 10 will have an unlockable bootloader

HTC 10 bootloader unlocked feature photo

So far with the 2016 flagships we have learned that original Android development might not be as prominent as years past. That is mainly due to the fact that the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and LG G5 all have locked bootloaders with slim to no hope of unlocking it in the near future. Well good news for Android fans as the HTC 10 will have an unlockable bootloader.

HTC has always been a company that supports custom development through their HTCdev website. Consumers can use an HTC tool to unlock the bootloader and also install custom firmware. So it comes as no surprise that you will be able to unlock your bootloader on the HTC 10, but for some reason it is going un-talked about. I for one am very excited as I’m sure many of you are.

Every smartphone news outlet has made a big deal about the Samsung and LGs not having their bootloaders unlockable, but don’t mention that HTC’s are. It is a huge overlooked feature and to top it off, HTC’s warranty covers bootloader unlocking. No need to worry about losing your warranty after unlocking your phone.

I plan on reviewing the HTC 10, but I can tell you this right now, it has already won me over. Between the awesome metal build, the specs, and unlockable bootloader, I am sold. I am even returning my LG G5 because HTC has me sold. Welcome back HTC. Welcome back.
