Rumors about the Galaxy Note 5 getting an expedited release date have been quite persistent throughout the last few months. It has been continued to be dismissed, even by Samsung themselves. That is usually because the Galaxy Note 5 sees a debut at IFA 2015. Well, thanks to an exclusive report from SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 5 will be announced on August 12th and hit the market on August 21st.
There are multiple reasons why Samsung would want to push the release date up on its Note device. The three main reasons are due to the iPhone 6s Plus release, low Galaxy S6/S6 edge sales, and to release alongside Samsung Pay. Package all of those reasons together and an August 12th announcement makes perfect sense.
The Note 5 has been slated to continue on with the 5.7 (5.67) inch QHD AMOLED display and will most definitely have a glass back. It will also follow the footsteps of the S6 design language and carry on without the highly-touted microSD card slot. SamMobile is also reporting that the Note 5 will have extremely thin bezels which will result in a slimmer package.
Among other things, the Galaxy Note 5 will see four color options: Silver, Gold, Black, and White. With that said, the new revamped S-Pen is expected to match the color of the exterior of the phone. It will also be designed to look and feel more like a regular pen than before.
As far as specs for a reminder, the Galaxy Note 5 will have the Exynos 7422 processor backed by 4 GB of RAM. If you thought the S6 performed well, just wait until the Note 5 gets benchmarked. It is also expected to have a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera, both with optical image stabilization.
