Essential PH-1 will feature unlockable bootloader

Essential Devices

It has now been a few days since Andy Rubin took the wraps off of the first Essential smartphone dubbed the PH-1. The most talked about features on the Essential PH-1 are definitely the edge-to-edge screen with minimal bezels and the modular capabilities of the phone. That’s not all either. It turns out that the phone will feature an unlockable bootloader as well.

A curious person on Twitter contacted Essential directly and asked whether or not the PH-1 would have an unlockable bootloader. Essential responded with no hesitation and didn’t dance around the question like most OEMs these days. The fact that the Essential PH-1 will have an unlockable bootloader will make it a very attractive phone for the Android community. Custom ROMs will definitely be available for this phone and it could replace the Nexus line as far as development popularity.

Just to recap, you can reserve your Essential PH-1 now on their official website. Not only does it come with a top of the line titanium and ceramric build, but it comes with the most recent hardware. The Essential PH-1 will come with the Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage, and a 19:10 2560 x 1312 QHD display. The phone is expected to ship by the end of June.
