HTC A55 is a Desire phone; not a flagship

HTC has been the talk of the internet as of late, with a slew of leaks from decoy units, their press event, and even unofficial press renders. It was rumored there was to be two HTC One M9’s, a standard and Plus (Ace) variant. Now, it is rumored by @upleaks that the Hima Ace (HTC One M9 Plus) has been canceled and the A55 (Desire) will take its place.

The A55 is definitely not a flagship device, as HTC will not promote it as such, but it will come with some flagship worthy specs. Among those, the Desire A55 will be the first HTC phone to sport a QHD display, along with a MediaTek octa-core processor, and 3 GB of RAM.

The Desire A55 is expected to be only available in Europe (single-SIM) and Asia (dual-SIM), with a U.S. release unlikely. On top of it all, the device is expected to be released sometime this month, ahead of the debut of the HTC One M9 (Hima) on March 1st at MWC (Mobile World Congress).
